I welcome you all to this interactive forum on the Website of the Rachmaninoff Network. I hope that this way all members will get a chance to get to know each other and the music of Sergei Rachmaninoff even better.
Part of this forum is a copy of the forum of The Rachmaninoff Society which was discontinued in June 2013 but which content is worth reading!

Hello

This monday I had my audition to go to college to study piano and it went very well. The teacher who listened to my pieces said it was good and for the theoric tests, I had almost everything right...just a few mistakes........so I'm very happy. I should receive a letter regarding my inscription around April 15.....now the next step: tell all this to my parents....won't be easy.

Anyway.....I feel like I'm on a cloud right now!!!!

Well, it seems that this is the thread to introduce oneself, so here goes.
Name: Risha O'Conner
Age: 22
Instrument: Cello (amateur, although I'm hoping to join an orchestra in the near future). I started playing in 5th grade, but was never really into it (stagnant music program at school, horrible instrument) until about 3 years ago, so I'm not particularly good (read: very bad). But, I'm improving, especially since by a stroke of luck, I've gotten the opportunity to study under an absolutely FANTASTIC teacher (he was a pupil of Janos Starker's).

I've been a rabid fan of all things Rachmaninoff since my sister started learning the Prelude in G when I was in elementary school. I'm very attached to all his music, but the Sonata for Cello and Piano is my first and forever love. (ok, so I'm biased  ). Discovered the Rachmaninoff Society about a month ago - thanks to whoever activated my account!

LIVEN THIS PLACE UP??

Am I the only one whose noticed all the *& in the members lists? That's VERY lively indeed but, unfortunately, also VERY disrespectful to the subject and purposes of this Society.

You're not the only one - I've noticed it too. Kind of odd, considering that it took nearly a month for me to get my membership approved. Has someone hacked the site? Maybe we should invest in some tighter security.

Rachboy, as moderator, can you do anything about this?

Risha...I've heard they're trying to do something about this problem. Where the solution lies, I do not know.

Well, find out how they're doing it, I suppose, and then block them. I know you have to get approval from the webmaster in order to post on the forum, but maybe your profile shows up on the site before you get approval. That would explain why we have so many bogus "members" but no spam on the message boards.
