Note the discrepancies for the two different dates, above, and also note the discrepancy below on Sergei Rachmaninoff's height:

Igor Stravinsky had said:

"Some people achieve a kind of immortality just by the totality with which they do or do not possess some quality or characteristic. Rachmaninoff's immortalizing totality was his scowl. He was a six-and-a-half-foot-tall scowl...he was an awesome man." -- Igor Stravinsky https://books.google.com/books?id=g1ga2hNiiAgC&pg=PA432&lpg=PA432&dq=Rachmaninoff's+immortalizing+totality+was+his+scowl.++He+was+a+six-and-a-half-foot-tall+scowl...he+was+an+awesome+man&source=bl&ots=9b-D9-mwaS&sig=HAd8NDKgWVHFnuWWHTDgIglFF8s&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiFjO7njP7OAhVKxWMKHf0FD2oQ6AEIHDAA#v=onepage&q=Rachmaninoff's%20immortalizing%20totality%20was%20his%20scowl.%20%20He%20was%20a%20six-and-a-half-foot-tall%20scowl...he%20was%20an%20awesome%20man&f=false

But perhaps Stravinsky was thinking of Rachmaninoff wearing a hat.

Eugene Ormandy was more specific:

"...He [Rachmaninoff] was about six feet-three. I am five feet-five and a half..." -- Eugene Ormandy, in a conversation with Ed Cunningham, in Philadelphia. Radio station KUSC, of the USA's National Public Radio (NPR), broadcast excerpts of this conversation in 1979.

This description fits yours truly's own experience standing and talking with Eugene Ormandy. I am 6'-3," and the height proportions felt the same between us, as between Messrs. Ormandy and Rachmaninoff in the following photograph. It is also plain to see that SVR is not a whole foot taller than Mr. Ormandy; and so it can be deduced that the Ellis Island manifests understated SVR's height, and that Eugene Ormandy's account is indeed correct:
