Rachmaninoff plays and speaks

Postby Amphissa » Fri Aug 22, 2008 3:40 am

Here is a recording in which (we think) Sasha Greiner of Steinway & Sons talks about visiting the Rachmaninoff home. In the recording, Rachmaninoff plays piano while guests sing the Russian song "boublitchki." At the end, Rachmaninoff comments that they sing very badly.

This is a rarity indeed, and our thanks to Michael R. Brown for uploading it for us all to hear on YouTube.

That's fantastic! I never pictured Rachmaninoff accompanying his friends like that in a casual environment, and I never knew that he had such a sense of humor!

Thank you so much for sharing!
