Movie on Rachmaninoff - Finally!!!!!
Oh, my!
It IS "under production"....
Although, if they haven't posted the cast, they haven't started shooting the film yet, ya?
You are not a nerd, Risha. I do prefer documentary also.
(Althgouh I was very excited when I first heard the news!
)
I just hope they won't make is into a complete chik-flick...
Love triangle is not romantic but rather stupid....
Wish US luck!!!!

A friend of mine told me that when she was watching Oscar, they showed the 'preview' or Rhapsody...!!!! Has anyone caught it??? I didn't. I went on to the IMDB.com, and it's says Release 2008. I know my town won't show this movie here! Goodness I have to travel to watch it.
Anybody has more info?
Thanks

Re: Movie on Rachmaninoff - Finally!!!!!
The love triangle was not falsified. He had an affair with Nina Koshetz. It's not like this is an unusual thing in the world of classical music. It occurs all the time now and has for hundreds of years. I would hope the movie would not dwell on this as a dominant storyline, but it happened. And there is already a very fine documentary on DVD called "Harvest of Sorrow" that I reviewed on this forum. If you prefer a documentary, I highly recommend it.

I wish people could appreciate his music and never make films about his private life.
I think Rachmaninoff did enough in his life, he worked as hard as he could, he wrote best music, he made so many records, he helped so many people... We must have respect for his private life and even if such film appears, never watch it.
And by the way there is already not documentary movie about Rachmaninoff - it is Pavel Lungin's "Ветка сирени" - "The Lilac Twig"
There is also a movie from Chili - you can check the trailer on youtube

Seems rather serious one (I've never seen the whole film, though the very picture of woman in bra is sooo ridiculous), but still I think we better never touch his private life, but try to concentrate on his artistic life, on his works, let's say for example his choir works - Vespers, Liturgy and so on... Why stick on the things that are easy to understand? I think one can make a perfect art movie out of this material, and full of spirit and art.
The desire to make a movie about his private life resembles the artists that make bad sculptures of Rachmaninoff. Only if you have the same talant as Rachmaninoff had in music, only than you can make a movie about him, a scupture of him, a picture of him... Isn't that obvious enough?

What a shame that some people concern themselves with a topic like the affair of a great person! There was so much goodness and generosity in this composer's life, and his musical legacy has brought so much joy and comfort, that it seems dishonorable to his memory to even view the movie.
How many of us could stand for our own lives to be exploited in such a way?
