Re: Piano Recital in Brooklyn NY

Thank you Marianne! Indeed, I have almost all of Rachmaninoff's piano music at my house, I always try to include him in my programs, perhaps not enough! Thanks for the suggestion, I shall give it though!

Piano Recital in Brooklyn NY

Hello fellow Rachmaniacs! Seeing as how I feel directly an impacted musician by Rachmaninoff, with having taken part in the members' recital in amsterdam at the society's international conference a few years ago as my first performance abroad, i figured that this constitutes as sufficiently relevant...

A wonderful lulluby by Tchaikofsky that Rachmaninoff recorded :)
I thought it be fitting, seeing as how it was in the conservatory of St.Petersburg where Rachmaninoff became familiar with Tchaikofsky and his works, growing from his influence and rich knowledge.

Re: Complete records of all Rachmaninoff's compositions

They say that the moon lost its romanticism once people walked on it :) Perhaps its nice that people might embark on an adventure to acquire various performers' interpretations and recordings of their favorite composers' works. But I agree that educational projects should be sponsored and supported ...

Is there any reference or explanation to the Troika being his favorite encore piece - specifically why - in his journals?

Rachmaninoff 3rd Concerto

youtube.com/watch?v=I87JTQudUNQ Ilya Rashkovskiy playing 2nd Movnt of the Rachmaninoff piano concerto no.3 at the Queen Elizabeth Competition where he took 3rd place. Especially impressive and moving performance, I found many sensitive and musical traits in this music and I hope to share it with you.

Re: Musicians and dogs!

Its quite funny - dogs seem to have some sense of music taste after all and I believe that it is a good reference to test whether or not one's music is good. My professor has a dog, a Ukrainean pit bull or something of the sort and whenever I play bach, he puts his head down , flips over, and rests....
