Re: Tchaikovsky's November
I have a CD of Rachmaninoff playing this piece via a Bosendorfer 290SE Reproducing Piano. The CD is the second of two featuring this Reproducing Piano, both entitled "A Window in Time", the first featuring all SVR's works recorded on piano rolls, the second featuring his transcriptions of ...

Too bad the rest of us won't be able to hear Mr. Flint's presentation.

Hi, StewH here, if I may....Siloti's father's name was Ilya, thus Siloti's "patronymic" was Ilyich.

Re: adagio from Cello Sonata Horowitz & Rostropovich
A beautiful performance, no doubt! But have you viewed the videos of Karel Bredenhorst and his pianist (not accompanist!), Sofja Gulbadanova, on the same site? All four movements of the sonata are there--such a performance, it was most moving. With young musicians such as these two performing SVR's ...

There appears to have been some spam posted here and a couple of other places. That's what my comment was aimed at.

I haven't received mine yet (No. 2). I'm in the US--does it take longer to arrive here?

Re: 20th and 21st century artists Influenced
Marianne, Which version of Rachmaninoff's 4th do you know? The original 1926 one doesn't sound split at all - it's actually quite logical! Daniel & Marianne--It is Max Harrison's opinion, and one that I share, by the way, that since the manuscript of the 1926 version has been published, there i...

Earl Wild's paraphrases
No one has mentioned Earl Wild's transcriptions/paraphrases of several of SVR's songs. Harrison mentions them in his SVR biography, and I have ordered them from Amazon.com. Looking forward to hearing them with a view toward evaluating them as "another set of Etudes-Tableaux," in Harrison's...

I wonder - is it possible to cut out all the archive video out of that film and make a separate movie?
I wouldn't want to guess at the problems you would encounter in attempting to edit the original film--all in all, probably not a good idea.

StewH, superb!!! :D Thank you so so so so so much!!! PS I've also found that as soon as I put the link to this board in the Favorites section in the menu above, it gets to the end of the favorites list every time, even after I'd moved it upstairs  May be that's only in my computer? I've noticed not once that when the structure of the forum is divided in many classified branches it gets less and less visited, because you need to click many times more to find all the new topics. If it only could be possible to make a choice how to view the phorum - when you can see all the topi...
