Re: Vinyl
Some of my vinyls I will not listen to anymore: William Kapell's recording of SVR's 2nd Concerto, all SVR's recordings on vinyl (will soon get around to buying the CDs), Van Cliburn's Carnegie Hall performance of SVR's 3rd, just to name a few. Am I too annoying if I dare to ask you why? Not at all,...

Re: Quotes
Rachmaninoff hastened to add, furthermore: "I too have sinned with wrong notes in my youth, and therefore you may be forgiven."

Re: Natalie's Recollections
I'd like to weigh in here, if I may: The 2001 edition of "A Life in Music" is an exact reprint of the original 1956 edition, but with the addition of the long introduction by David Cannata. And I don't think the 1905 date for the photo can be that far off.

Re: Rachmaninoff Live - concerts, broadcasts etc
Daniel,
This program sounds fantastic--it even includes a couple of my favorite etudes, especially the one in f# minor. It's always a thrill to hear SVR's works played in a live concert by a competent artist. Thanks for sharing your impressions.

Re: Earl Wild's paraphrases
As it turns out, they are quite good, with a few duplications of studio recordings and live performances. If you can find a way to ordering the CD on-line from Amazon.com, it's worth your trouble--and it isn't at all expensive.

Re: Novgorod
Let me add my thanks, too, Marianne. Retracing Rachmaninoff's steps through this old city certainly is akin to "treading on Holy ground."

I would certainly be in favor of that!

Re: Harvest of Sorrow: The Memories of Sergei Rachmaninoff
I much enjoyed seeing the young Russian artists performing SVR's works. It shows how much, I believe, Rachmaninoff is still studied and appreciated in his home country, more so than here in the US obviously.

Re: Tchaikovsky's November
StewH, I have heard some pieces from "A Window in Time", but should get it for myself. I do have the boxed set of CD's by RCA of all SVR's recordings, however. This is what made me a Rachmaninoff addict. I enjoy your interesting postings, StewH. Opus23#10 I have quite a few LPs of SVR's r...
