Rachmaninoff Festival/Competition in Novgorod, April 2012

In April 14-21, 2012 the IX International Music Festival named after S. Rachmaninoff and the VIII International Competition named after S. Rachmaninoff will take place in Veliky Novgorod, motherland of the outstanding composer. Within the frames of the Festival the following concerts will be held:

April, 14 – Concert of the State Academic Choir and Symphony Orchestra (St. Petersbug). Conductor – People’s Artist of Russia Aleksandr Chernushenko, soloists: Arkadiy Tsentsiper (piano, Germany), Honoured Artist of Russia Pyotr Migunov (bass), laureate of the International Competitions Ekaterina Zavatskaya (soprano), Egor Semenkov (tenor).

April, 16 – Concert of the scholarship holders of the Fund «New Names». Host – People’s Artist of Russia Svyatoslav Belza.

April, 17 – Concert of the Schubert-duet (Moscow). Laureates of the International Competitions Aleksand Tomas and Lubov Potapova-Tomas.

April, 18 – A unique project « Repertoire of little Sergey Rachmaninoff» with the participation of pupils of music schools of Veliky Novgorod and Saint-Petersburg. The head of the project – the director of the Saint-Petersburg Rachmaninoff Society Ludmila

April, 19 – Concert of the State Quartet Named after Pyotr Tchaikovsky (Moscow).

April, 21 – Closing of the Festival. Final concert of the laureates of the VIII International Competition named after S. Rachmaninoff.
