Earl Wild's paraphrases

Postby StewH » Tue Nov 18, 2008 4:45 am

No one has mentioned Earl Wild's transcriptions/paraphrases of several of SVR's songs. Harrison mentions them in his SVR biography, and I have ordered them from Amazon.com. Looking forward to hearing them with a view toward evaluating them as "another set of Etudes-Tableaux," in Harrison's words. Any thoughts from folks who have heard these gems?

I've played neither of them. In Holland they are expensive and hard to get!

As it turns out, they are quite good, with a few duplications of studio recordings and live performances. If you can find a way to ordering the CD on-line from Amazon.com, it's worth your trouble--and it isn't at all expensive.
