Complete records of all Rachmaninoff's compositions

Postby Marianne » Wed Jan 14, 2009 7:02 pm

I wonder, why there is no site like this one:

Where one could download all the works written by Rachmaninoff?
I think many interpreters would be glad to give away their records to participate in such a project, even though their names would be hidden. Or may be even famous pianists would give their records for free just to support such an educational project.

Because just the same for example records of Ashkenazy, Lugansky, Clibern, Kisin, Gavrilov are available for downloading:

I don't know whether the author of the page already has the permission to distribute these records or not, but there is obviously a need of a bigger project with all the works on one site.
What do you think?

They say that the moon lost its romanticism once people walked on it :)
Perhaps its nice that people might embark on an adventure to acquire various performers' interpretations and recordings of their favorite composers' works.

But I agree that educational projects should be sponsored and supported by accomplished musicians and the musical elite. This would doubtlessly help introduce the world's best music to those who otherwise would not have the opportunity to hear it.
