Adagio section of the Cello Sonata,
Vladimir Horowitz & Mstislav Rostropovich, recorded 1976
Wonderful playing, and what a singing tone from Mstislav!

Oh my God... I guess this compensates for Horowitz's less orthodox behaviour in other performances of Rachmaninoff's works...

A beautiful performance, no doubt!

But have you viewed the videos of Karel Bredenhorst and his pianist (not accompanist!), Sofja Gulbadanova, on the same site? All four movements of the sonata are there--such a performance, it was most moving. With young musicians such as these two performing SVR's music, the future indeed looks bright.
