Ovchinnikov's recording of Etudes-Tableaux

Postby StewH » Fri Sep 26, 2008 11:28 pm

I'm impressed with this recording on several levels--musicianship, recording quality, the technical prowess of the artist, etc. And although I also own Ashkenazy's versions, I do enjoy Ovchinnikov's interpreations of several of the etudes--the Op. 39 F sharp minor I think particularly stands out. But they're all good. Wondered what this esteemed audience's reaction to this recording is, if any. 8)

Daniel--I don't think you'll be disappointed! As I said above, I enjoy several of these pieces. Some folks may quibble about a tempo too slow here or there--I don't know.....But Mr. O. plays some real gems here imo.
