Measuring Rachmaninoff's plus four suit
Dress historian Rosalie Sloof provides long distance instructions to Wouter de Voogd (Rachmaninoff Network) on how to take the exact measurements of Sergei Rachmaninoff's suit at Senar. The composer had it made in London in the early 1930s especially for his vacations on Lake Lucerne, where preparations for the construction of the luxurious Villa Senar were in full swing. The suit obviously became Rachmaninoff's favorite. He is shown wearing it on countless known and unknown photos documenting the summer holidays at Senar. For this reason alone it appeals to the imagination of many a Rachmaninoff enthusiast. Obviously, the sizes of the suit reveal a lot about the composer's imposing physical appearance.
